New Town Masterplan is a new residential district included in the larger project of the development of the area of Pudong across from the city center of Shanghai. The complex of 450.000 sqm is characterized mainly by residential types surrounded by large spaces dedicated to different utilities. It promotes a sense of closeness and community: residences’ private green offer several activities for young and old people with playground area and relax area, water pools serve various purposes such as phytodepuration and water collection and the circulation links them togheter through a drive way reserved to the residents, and a Cycle path.

The choice of contemporary architectural configuration is integrated with the appeal to tradition through the use of wood coverings that work as shading systems for the apartments.
Environmental sustainability is a major consideration for the project. Buildings are oriented for the most efficient use of sunlight and high-performance building skin will further save energy, wastewater will be recycled and stormwater will be managed through sensitive landscaping and treatment.
